EVOO and Honey Deep Conditioning Treatment
Extra virgin olive oil is a great oil for deep conditioning because it penetrates the hair shaft. Honey is a humectant, which means it draws in moisture. Putting these two items together creates a great combo for your child’s “thirsty” hair.Ingredients
- 1/4 cup 100% pure honey
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- plastic conditioning cap
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
- Apply to your child’s hair in sections. (Applicator bottles work well for this.)
- Cover with a conditioning cap and have your child sit under a hooded dryer for 15 minutes.
- Rinse hair thoroughly using warm water first and then cool water to seal cuticle.
- Style as usual.

January 9, 2018Hi! Can I use a hand dryer if I do not have a hooded dryer?
My Afro Baby Editor
January 9, 2018You absolutely could – that is, if you don’t mind blowing it around her head for 10 to 15 minutes. It would probably be easier to warm your conditioner in the microwave first before applying. Put some conditioner in a microwave safe bowl, microwave for about 15 seconds and then stir. Doesn’t need to be scalding hot, just warm. Then you can apply it to the hair in sections. Has the same effect. π

January 15, 2018Can you save the homemade conditioner in the fridge in a mason jar until next was day….2 weeks perhaps? Or should I make it as needed?
My Afro Baby Editor
January 16, 2018The honey and oil one you don’t even need to refrigerate. The others that contain food I would make as needed. They may keep a day or so in the fridge, but I would imagine they’d be a little less effective and possibly a little gross after a week or two. π

May 14, 2018I REALLY LIKE WHAT I’M READING. BUT I HAVE EASY QUESTIONS. 1. WHEN YOU BLOW DRY WHAT TEMPERATURE SHOULD YOU USE? AND IS THIS DONE WITH OUT A CAP ON? 2. HOW OFTEN DO YOU DO THIS? WHAT DO YOU USE TO WASH AND DO YOU REPLY THIS AFTER OR BEFORE YOU WASH. HAIR WASH DAMAINGED AFTER BEING IN THE POOL OFF BUT MOSTLY DAILY. THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION I HAVE READ. JUST NEED THESE QUESTIONED ANSWERED SO I KNOW I’M DOING IT RIGHT WITH NO QUESTIONS OF DOING WRONG. PLEASE HELP PLEASE.

February 2, 2018Hi any hair products you would recommend my daughter hair is really dry she has curly brown hair and I think her hair color plays a major part in why it gets dry but how often should I do the deep conditioner?
My Afro Baby Editor
February 5, 2018Hair color doesn’t effect dryness but hair type, texture, and porosity do. Deep condition weekly if you feel she needs it. You may be able to back off a bit once her hair reaches good hydration levels. Here’s a great list of natural products to try: https://myafrobaby.com/natural-hair-products-kids-adults/. In the end, product selection will all boil down to trial and error. Good luck! π

February 5, 2018If you feel your little one would benefit, 9 1/2 month is definitely a good time to start. π

March 20, 2018****PLEASE HELP****
In need of some major help???? my daughter Brooklynn is 5 now but I’ve been doing her hair since the was 1 1/2. When she started going to school at 3 she began yanking out the barrettes from her hair, quickly ripping and splitting her ends, I would cut off the split ends, but noticed no matter how much I try to protect her hair, every last strand on her head ends up splitting and it breaks my heart knowing I’ll have to end up cutting off 65% of her shoulder length hair.
What can I possibly do to protect hair ends and keep her hair growing and in a healthier state. I braided her hair last night into pig tails and wanted puffs on the top, when I went to tug at the puffs to fluff them up, her hair just ripped and felt like straw in my hands, I was devastated even though I’m always moisturizing her hair

March 30, 2018Thank you so much for these treatments, most of the products are items that I have at home except for the dryer. (Which I will go purchase this weekend) My daughters both have really brittle and dry hair, nice length but I know that I need to really invest time into learning about how to care for their hair. My only question is how often do I need to do this treatment. Currently, their hair feels like cotton and sheds quite a bit.

June 14, 2018Just did the banana deep conditoner for my 5 month old , her hair drinks up any moisture so fast so hopefully this hair mask will allow her to retain hydration and make her curls flourish. I cleaned her hair with appl cider vinegar diluted , then applied deep conditioner and wrapped her hair with saran wrap and placed her bonnet over it. She will be sleeping in it overnight and it will be rinsed in the morning and moisturized , sealed with oil and styled.
